Flood Warning issued April 29 at 6:40PM CDT until April 30 at 7:30PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Excessive runoff from Saturday night's very heavy rainfall continues to cause flooding problems with some roads still closed in the warned area. * WHERE...A portion of Southeast Kansas, including the following counties, Allen, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Until 730 PM CDT Tuesday. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 640 PM CDT, Local law enforcement reported on-going flooding problems in the warned area. - Flooding impacts will continue, but no additional rainfall is expected. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Parsons, Chanute, Iola, Neodesha, Fredonia, Humboldt, Yates Center, Erie, St. Paul, La Harpe, Gas, Moran, Thayer, Altoona, Toronto, Buffalo, Neosho Falls, Galesburg, Savonburg and Elsmore. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.

Neosho River at Oswego affecting Labette and Cherokee Counties. Neosho River near Parsons affecting Labette and Neosho Counties. Neosho River near Chanute affecting Neosho and Allen Counties. Neosho River near Erie affecting Neosho County. * WHAT...Moderate flooding is occurring and minor flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Neosho River near Chanute. * WHEN...Until just after midnight tonight. * IMPACTS...At 28.5 feet, Flood waters may flow across old Highway 169 north of Chanute. Agricultural flooding will also occur. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1:30 AM CDT Tuesday the stage was 29.0 feet. - Bankfull stage is 23.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to fall below flood stage this afternoon and continue falling to 10.2 feet early Sunday morning. - Flood stage is 23.0 feet. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.
