Flood Warning issued April 28 at 12:11PM CDT until April 28 at 5:00PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues. * WHERE...A portion of Southeast Kansas, including the following counties, Greenwood and Wilson. * WHEN...Until 500 PM CDT. * IMPACTS...Flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations is imminent or occurring. Numerous roads remain closed due to flooding. Streams continue to rise due to excess runoff from earlier rainfall. Low-water crossings are inundated with water and may not be passable. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 1211 PM CDT, local law enforcement reported ongoing flooding across the warned area. Between 2 and 7 inches of rain have fallen. - Additional rainfall amounts up to 1 inch are possible in the warned area if thunderstorms can develop late this afternoon. - Some locations that will experience flooding include... Eureka, Madison, Hamilton, Severy, Fall River, Climax, Virgil, New Albany, Coyville, Eureka Airport, Eureka City Lake, Thrall, Fall River Lake, Fall River State Park, Cross Timbers State Park, Toronto Lake and Piedmont. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.
