Flood Watch issued April 27 at 12:22PM CDT until April 28 at 1:00PM CDT by NWS Wichita KS * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...Portions of Central, South Central, and Southeast Kansas, including the following counties, in Central Kansas, Chase. In South Central Kansas, Butler and Cowley. In Southeast Kansas, Allen, Chautauqua, Elk, Greenwood, Labette, Montgomery, Neosho, Wilson and Woodson. * WHEN...Through Sunday afternoon. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Scattered to numerous thunderstorms will impact the region this afternoon through tonight. Pockets of very heavy rainfall and localized flooding are likely, along with the potential for rises and rivers and streams. You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Those living in areas prone to flooding should be prepared to take action should flooding develop. Do not drive into flooded areas or go around barricades. Nearly two feet of water will carry most vehicles away. Turn around, don't drown.

Special Weather Statement issued April 28 at 12:43AM CDT by NWS Wichita KS At 1243 AM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking strong thunderstorms along a line extending from 8 miles north of Elk City to near Cherryvale to 9 miles south of Mound Valley to near Edna to 12 miles west of Welch. Movement was northeast at 55 mph. HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph. SOURCE...Radar indicated. IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around unsecured objects. Locations impacted include... Parsons, Chanute, Iola, Neodesha, Fredonia, Cherryvale, Humboldt, Oswego, Erie, Chetopa, Altamont, St. Paul, La Harpe, Gas, Moran, Thayer, Edna, Altoona, Mound Valley, and Buffalo. If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building. A Tornado Watch remains in effect until 700 AM CDT for southeastern Kansas.
