Flood Watch issued May 3 at 8:31AM CDT until May 3 at 7:00PM CDT by NWS Houston/Galveston TX * WHAT...Flooding caused by excessive rainfall continues to be possible. * WHERE...A portion of southeast Texas, including the following areas, Brazos, Burleson, Coastal Harris, Grimes, Houston, Inland Harris, Madison, Montgomery, Northern Liberty, Polk, San Jacinto, Southern Liberty, Trinity, Walker, Waller and Washington. * WHEN...Until 7 PM CDT this evening. * IMPACTS...Excessive runoff may result in flooding of rivers, creeks, streams, and other low-lying and flood-prone locations. Flooding may occur in poor drainage and urban areas. Low-water crossings may be flooded. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - Model guidance suggests potential for heavier rains in the watch area early today through this evening. Any further rainfall would at best slow the recession of existing floodwaters, and at worst would aggravate this flooding. Saturated soils will result in a greater risk of flash flooding, even at rain rates that typically do not cause problems in this area. 1-2 inches of new rainfall are possible with isolated totals of up to 3-5 inches. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood You should monitor later forecasts and be alert for possible Flood Warnings. Neches River At Rockland affecting Tyler, Angelina, Polk and Jasper Counties. Neches River Near Diboll affecting Trinity, Tyler, Houston, Polk and Angelina Counties. Neches River Near Alto affecting Anderson, Houston, Cherokee and Trinity Counties. Neches River Near Neches affecting Anderson, Houston and Cherokee Counties. For the Neches River...including Lake Palestine, Neches, Alto, Diboll, Rockland...Moderate flooding is forecast. * WHAT...Minor flooding is occurring and moderate flooding is forecast. * WHERE...Neches River near Alto. * WHEN...Until further notice. * IMPACTS...At 18.0 feet, Expect moderate to severe flooding of the heavily wooded floodplain. Boat ramps and picnic areas will be completely inundated. * ADDITIONAL DETAILS... - At 9:15 PM CDT Thursday the stage was 18.0 feet. - Bankfull stage is 16.0 feet. - Recent Activity...The maximum river stage in the 24 hours ending at 9:15 PM CDT Thursday was 18.0 feet. - Forecast...The river is expected to rise to a crest of 18.3 feet early Saturday morning. - Flood stage is 16.0 feet. - Flood History...This crest compares to a previous crest of 18.3 feet on 04/24/2020. - http://www.weather.gov/safety/flood Do not drive cars through flooded areas.
